in philadelphia. a barge collided with a tourist boat in the last couple of hours. this happened on the delaware river in downtown philadelphia. brian bolter is working this one in the newsroom. >> reporter: this involves a sightseeing boat popular with tourists, loaded with 37 people when it hit a barge spilling passengers into the delaware river. two people are still missing. we are told a fire on board the tugboat caused it to shut down. there was a frantic rescue operation. the coast guard with help from police and fire crews pulled most survivors from the water. some got hurt but the coast guard said none of them seriously. three of the injured were taken to the hospital. we are keeping an eye on this one. more details as we get them. >>> police are revealing a new clue in the death of a teenager. her murder staged to look like an accident. hear what police want you to know. >>> a metro bus turned into an off-road vehicle. how the driver ended up in someone's front lawn.  >>> trying to solve a murder mystery. fairfax police released this surveillance video that may show clues in t

as the other side of the chesapeake bay bridge. you will run into thundershowers around delaware. 82 after our low this morning of 74. 1.17 inches of rain today. it's the first time this year we've had more than an inch of rain on a single day. the last time we had more than an inch of precipitation on the same day, december 19th. mother nature kindly turned us into 15 inches of snow. right now, mostly cloudy skies, 75 degrees for a current temperature outside, humidity 74%, the north-northeast early breezes will eventually blow dryer less humid air in there. temperatures now back into the upper 60s in martinsburg, 75 in manassas. th thurmont maryland, 73. look at the radar, no rain around us, go right over the chesapeake bay bridge, look at that. thunderstorms in and around dover delaware, down toward milford still dry for ocean city. little area of low pressure getting going off the coast. as it continues to spin, that's what's throwing the moisture back in the thunderstorms into delaware. we don't need to worry about those. they'll work their way offshore, sunday will be a beauty around her

music. recovery supporters in delaware celebrated recovery month in their state by holding a kickoff luncheon. delaware governor ruth ann minner was on hand to speak and to recognize several individuals for their work in the substance abuse treatment field. river valley behavioral health organized a stand for recovery. citizens of owensboro, kentucky, gathered publicly on the lawn of owensboro courthouse to stand and show their support for the recovery movement. rhode islanders celebrated recovery month by attending a recovery day event in their state capital of providence. the event featured food, face painting, guest speakers, and live music, as well as prevention activities, displays of the recovery quilt, and a vigil for the remembrance of loved ones who were lost to the disease of addiction. faces and voices of recovery greenville put together a rally for recovery concert. admission to the event was free and tables were set up to allow patrons to register to vote. the saint marks inspirational choir kicked off the music festivities and the evening concluded with a performance by

been suspended nation-wide after a major crash in the delaware river yesterday. now the search continues for two passengers who are still unaccounted for. elaine has more for wjz from philadelphia. >> reporter: passengers on a ride to see the sights of philadelphia ended up swimming for their lives. these exclusive photos by cbs news shows a tour boat struck by a barge in the delaware river. >> i saw a couple of people jump off the boat. ten seconds later, just crashed right into it. >> reporter: the collision sent all 35 passengers and two crew members into the water. cameras caught people clinging for safety and paddling to rescue boating. >> crushed it, the duck boat in the water then all of a sudden i seen a couple people popped out. >> reporter: most victims were tourists taking part in a duck tour like the one shown here, riding in a vehicle designed for both land and water. authorities say the duck boat had mechanical trouble and caught fire before the crash. survivors sat helpless as the barge, being pushed by a tugboat, approach. >> we were just waiting for somebody el

and overturned in the delaware river sending at least 37 people overboard. richard cantu has the story. >> reporter: a sightseeing tour on the delaware river turned into chaos when a duck boat carrying 35 passengers and two crew was hit by a barge and sank. this eyewitness was on a nearby ferry boat. >> the barge sunk it. >> reporter: a small fire caused the duck boat to stall and then the barge came and rammed it. the collision left dozens in the water, many of them children as police and other rescuers that were in the area tried to save them. >> we saw several life savers, orange ones floating in the water and saw people trying to catch them. very scary. >> we helped a few people up out of the water. then people -- authorities started to come on the stage. >> reporter: officials say they are looking in to what caused the accident. >> don't know why these two vehicles collided. we are currently investigating and doing interviews. >> reporter: one witness said the barge hit the duck bet pretty hard. another said it appears the crew of the tug pushing the barge had enough time to s

. one was clocked in delaware at 69 miles per hour and also in pennsylvania, so we're seeing extremely intense winds, almost hurricane-force with the storms, so very intense indeed. the bigger picture to show you is that the front will help to break the heat that's been facing the area and there's still flooding happening in york, i mentioned where the rough weather was. and there was a tornado warning earlier. here's the cold front as it works across the country. it will pull down improving conditions, not really like a heat breaker completely. it will still be hot out there. but at least we'll get some better conditions than what we've been seeing. it's been a constant string of hot weather and oppressive conditions with the heat index climbing up to 110 degrees. yesterday, richmond, virginia, just really, the thermometer didn't stop going up. it hit 105 yesterday in richmond. and today we're likely to see more heat building. it's hots here in the south across georgia, alabama, mississippi. we have heat advisories. one thing to note, we're starting to see the heat advisories drop fro
